Sesame sourcing plan

Start with one buyer requirement and a verified batch. Use an established exporter for the first deal, then build direct African and overseas trade from documented results.

Proposed operating plan, reviewed 10 October 2026. These are work targets, not confirmed orders, prices or guaranteed income.

The first money route

Ask an existing Nigerian sesame exporter what stock they will buy or what sourcing work they will pay for. David verifies supply on the ground. Reginald coordinates specifications, documents and the commercial agreement.

Before introductions or procurement, agree who pays the sourcing fee, the amount per accepted kilogram or tonne, reimbursable expenses, acceptance evidence and the payment date. A fee is income only when paid. Buy and resell stock only after the buyer, costs and funding are confirmed.

The next seven days

  1. Days 1–2, Reginald: Approach three exporters. Obtain one written buying requirement: seed type, quantity, quality, delivery place, deadline and payment terms. Use Buyer requests.
  2. Days 1–3, David: Identify five farmer, cooperative or aggregator sources near his operating area. Physically check at least three batches. Record origin, batch ID, actual available weight, dated price and collection location in Supplier lots.
  3. Days 3–4, David and the buyer: Draw representative samples from the actual offered batches. Obtain the buyer's testing panel and written sample acceptance. Attach results through Photos & documents.
  4. Days 4–5, Reginald: Compare saleable weight and all costs. Agree the fee or resale margin, named delivery point, quality rejection rules and funding before committing. Use Tasks, Quotes & invoices and the order cost review as applicable.
  5. Days 6–7, both: Aim for one signed pilot agreement. Deliver only after quality, funding and required documents clear. Record accepted weight, delivery evidence and cleared funds. A shipment date depends on those approvals.

What David must capture

Farmer or cooperative name, physical farm or collection origin, harvest date or season, batch reference, photos, available kilograms, seed type and colour, storage conditions, price validity and collection costs. Keep batch identity when combining suppliers.

Request buyer limits for moisture, purity, foreign matter, oil content where relevant, Salmonella, pesticide residues and other destination-required contaminants. Record natural or hulled seed and packaging requirements. Use the agreed specification rather than a universal quality percentage.

Confirm cleaning yield before quoting: purchased kilograms can exceed saleable kilograms. Each allocated batch needs its own test and sample acceptance.

African and overseas destinations

African country-to-country trade

Record the origin and destination country, importer, intended use, confirmed HS classification and applicable trade regime. Ask the clearing agent to document the actual tariff rate, taxes, source and review date. AfCFTA or ECOWAS preference requires the applicable origin evidence and tariff treatment for that route. Do not price every African shipment at zero duty.

Overseas trade

Obtain the importing country's current plant-health, food-safety, importer and labelling requirements for the exact sesame product. Confirm required permits, accepted tests and documents with the importer and clearing agent before contracting. AfCFTA preferences do not determine overseas import duties.

For either route, record exporter verification, contract, NXP/bank arrangements where applicable, invoice, packing list, origin proof, plant-health and other required certificates, inspection and transport documents in the shipment checklist. Confirm applicable requirements with the responsible authorities for this transaction.

Record who arranges collection, freight, insurance and customs clearance, the delivery term and named place, and when risk passes. The app coordinates third-party transport and records evidence. For foreign currency, document the conversion rate, date and bank charges; the app requires costs in one currency and does not convert automatically.

PAPSS is a payment option through participating institutions when available for the route. Confirm availability with the bank. Track cleared funds in the app; the app does not transfer them.

Check the deal before spending

Sourcing service: fee on accepted quantity minus your verification, sampling, travel and other agreed costs.

Buy and resell: buyer receipts minus purchase, cleaning loss, testing, bags, transport, documents, freight, insurance, bank charges and contingencies. The app's contribution estimate excludes company overhead and tax.

Write a dated cash plan: each expense, when it falls due and which cleared advance, supplier credit or other confirmed funding covers it. The app's funding gap is a planning estimate. Expected buyer money is not cleared funding.

For a fee-only deal, keep the fee agreement and payment follow-up in Tasks with supporting documents on the relevant partner or order. The commodity Payments ledger tracks an issued commodity buyer document; do not treat the exporter's entire sale as your fee revenue.

Starting points and official references

Wanfa Trading, Makurdi and Enkay Indo Nigerian Industries appear in NEPC's exporter directory. They are leads to verify, not confirmed buyers or approved partners. Ask whether they buy sourced lots, handle third-party exports or pay sourcing fees.

The AI agents review saved records. Use official sources and actual counterparty quotes for current rules, prices and buyers.
